SAS laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest
One of the priorities of SAS is investing in students’ education, aiming to prepare professionals who can easily adapt to a highly dynamic market. Thus, to help young adults who want to enter the workforce while possessing skills in high demand, SAS partnered with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, to equip a laboratory of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers with latest-gen data analysis solutions.
The laboratory was inaugurated in December 2022, during an event attended by both journalists and students of the faculty. From SAS, there were present Ștefan Baciu, Country Manager SAS Romania & Republic of Moldova, and Alina Luchian, Academic Program Manager for Romania at SAS Institute. The inauguration was also attended by academics from UPB, namely prof.dr.ing Mihnea Moisescu, prodean of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers from UPB, and prof.dr.ing Monica Drăgoicea, director of the program for Specialists in Business Intelligence Systems.
Both SAS members and representatives of the faculty expressed their opinions concerning the importance of such a laboratory, in particular, but also regarding the collaboration between the academia and the private sector in Romania, needed to prepare young professionals who can alleviate the workforce crisis in areas that require extensive training.
The laboratory inaugurated in December began hosting students starting with January 2023, as there were requests from students regarding the aforementioned program. Some of them were present at the opening and learned about what they will study within the program, using tools and solutions provided by SAS.
The inauguration of the SAS laboratory was an event with wide coverage in national media.
